The 2.5 day Wilderness First Responder Recertification course was built for the previously certified Wilderness First Responder. Students review and practice applying their training and knowledge in a course comprised entirely of high-fidelity simulation, scenarios, and debriefs. Uniquely enabled by the wide-range of medical experience students bring to the course, instructors place special emphasis on facilitating knowledge-sharing discussions and debriefs throughout the course. Course topics roughly follow the WFR curriculum but includes significant opportunity for deeper investigation and discussion.
To reinforce proficiency and real-life application of skills, the course emphasis on high-fidelity simulation, multiple scenarios of varied length, structured debriefs, one optional night-session and an extended field training exercise to conclude the course. Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment/gear to learn and practice techniques specifically relevant to their own wilderness routine.
Graduates recertify their Wilderness First Responder certification or renew the “Wilderness” component of their pre-existing certification, both valid for 2 years. Providers may be eligible for continuing education credit depending certification. Graduates are encouraged to continue their education with a 25% discount on any certification course.
